If you have been considering trying CBD oil for yourself, but you’re concerned about how safe it is, then stop worrying right now!
Understandably, you would have some concerns about how safe CBD oil is. After all, cannabidiol (CBD), the active ingredient in CBD oil, is sourced from hemp plants, and hemp plants are just the same as marijuana plants. Right? Wrong.
We don’t blame you for thinking that both these plants are the same. For the last century, there has been a war on drugs worldwide, and because of a lack of research and understanding, hemp plants were lumped together with marijuana plants.
Both hemp and marijuana belong to the cannabis sativa plant family. They look and smell remarkably similar, but that’s where the similarities end. Hemp plants are high in CBD and low in THC. In fact, hemp plants contain less than 0.3% THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is responsible for the ‘euphoric high’ many people experience when they use marijuana.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile. Reported adverse effects may be as a result of drug-drug interactions between CBD and patients’ existing medications. Several countries have modified their national controls to accommodate CBD as a medicinal product. To date, there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
We still have a long way to go before we fully understand CBD and make any definitive claims about its benefits. Still, so far, a variety of studies have confirmed that CBD is generally safe with a good safety profile and has a lot of promise as a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety compound. At Asheville Hemp Supply, we grow hope. We strive to produce eco-friendly, sustainable, and natural CBD and hemp products backed up by a core foundation of educational resources for our clients.
