As our pets get older, mobility issues start to play a huge factor in their quality of life, CBD could help your aging pets get mobile and stay mobile!

There is no doubt that the popularity of CBD is blowing up around the world as more and more people turn to this natural product for a variety of different reasons. What you may not know is that our pets can also use CBD! That’s right. Pets can take CBD oil and other CBD products as well.

In the following article, we’re going to look at how CBD works, what CBD is, and how our pets could benefit from CBD. If you have a pet with anxiety or mobility issues, then CBD could potentially help them enjoy a happier and healthier life.

What is CBD?

There are two main cannabinoids in hemp and marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although there are over 113 different cannabinoids, CBD and THC are the most abundant, but the two are hugely different. CBD is non-psychotropic, which means that unlike THC, it won’t get you or your pets high.

How Does CBD work?

Inside, is something known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Scientists believe that the ECS is responsible for maintaining homeostasis (balance and harmony) throughout the central nervous system and immune systems. The ECS is made up of a series of receptors that are spread throughout the body, and inside all of us and our pets are natural endocannabinoids

When you or your pet takes CBD, it enters the bloodstream and binds with those receptors. Cannabinoids are like the eyes and ears of our internal systems. When something isn’t functioning correctly, they send a signal to the cells, which causes the cells to react with corrective measures.

How could your pets’ benefit from CBD?

As our pets get older, one of the most significant issues that they face is mobility. It gets harder and harder for our pets to get around, and that includes going to the toilet, heading up and downstairs, and walking. Joints and muscles begin to weaken as we age. It’s the same for our pets. The body’s natural response to joint and muscle injuries is to send inflammatory compounds to the area, causing it to swell while it heals. Studies have shown that CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory that can help to reduce swelling and inflammation, improving mobility.

Another reason that CBD could benefit our pets is to assist with situational anxiety. Dogs suffer from situational and separation anxiety when you’re not around. Thunderstorms and fireworks can also be extremely traumatic for dogs. Studies have shown that CBD could assist with reducing the anxiety dogs experience when you’re not at home.
