Curious about what CBD is and how it works? Then keep reading!

With so many people around the world talking about CBD, it’s no surprise that many people have questions about how CBD oil and other CBD products such as CBD gummies work. As one of the premier CBD suppliers in Asheville, we believe in an educational approach to helping people understand CBD.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 113 different cannabinoids found in the hemp and marijuana plants. Unlike its more famous cousin, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no psychoactive properties and won’t get you high.

Inside everyone, regardless of whether or not they have ever tried any hemp or marijuana products, is something known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS is made up of a series of receptors that are spread throughout the body but strongly focussed on the central nervous system and immune system. The ECS is responsible for maintaining homeostasis (balance and harmony) in our internal systems.

The receptors in the ECS are known as the CB1 and CB2 receptors. THC predominantly interacts with the CB1 receptors. Imagine a lock and a key. CBD and other cannabinoids are the keys that fit the receptor locks. Interestingly, CBD oil and other CBD products, including CBD flower and CBD gummies, can reduce the negative side-effects associated with taking high dosages of THC. It does this by blocking the CB1 receptor.

Whenever you use any CBD products, the CBD enters the bloodstream and interacts with the ECS. The easiest way to understand this is to imagine that CBD is the eyes and ears of our internal system. CBD monitors what’s happening, and when something isn’t functioning correctly, it sends a message to our cells. This triggers the correct cellular response, restoring homeostasis.

As CBD becomes more popular, scientists are unlocking more and more information every day about how CBD works and what CBD could do for us.
